The sights of Chita started from the footbridge of the railway station, which offered views of the city's new cathedral. Relatively small compared to a lot of the other places I visited in Russia, Chita more than anywhere else I've been had the "random place stuck out in Siberia" feel. There were plenty of ugly bits, but some beautiful bits too, especially the wooden church. And if there's anything that can be said of the locals here, it's that they sure know how to party: all the restaurants I ate in had live music and people happily dancing to it.
